Thu, August 4, 2005 - 11:51 AMActually, now that I think about it, those fried crunchy noodles that come with egg drop soup at various Chinese restaurants are pretty good too. -

Re: Noodle newbie here
Fri, August 19, 2005 - 1:47 AMhave you tried eating them right out of the packAGE? mmmm. my friend nudged me in the rib with her elbow when she saw some high school track coach tossing out packages of instant noodles from a costco package in yosemite. EGAD! Personally, though ifind the darn things tasty, they make me all puffy like the michelin man cause the salt and MSG is RETAINED and I can't take off my rings and everyone at work goes "whoa girl! what did you do last night? " -

Re: Noodle newbie here
Fri, August 19, 2005 - 8:14 AMWow, funny you should say that Cathy.
When I was a kid we'd eat the noodles right out of the package. The Thai brand that I use to eat is called, mama. Try it out. I'd crunch the bag and sprinkle the seasoning on it. It's pretty yummy. I wished these noodles didn't have MSG in it. -

Re: Noodle newbie here
Fri, August 19, 2005 - 8:42 AMIf you try the mama brand it's actually pre-cooked, well more like fried seriously, in Thailand we sell stuff like that. The texture from the mama brand is actually very crunchy.
re: msg
HE HE.. I feel very thirsty all the time w/ that chemical. ;) -

Re: uncooked noodles
Fri, August 19, 2005 - 2:39 PMHmmm… well, I pride myself on being willing to try *anything* once. It’s just I have a feeling this is gonna rank right down there with the doggy biscuit a friend had me try – I should say I’ll only try things *after* someone else (a lesson I learned after eating chicken testicles in Tokyo; not bad actually.)

That’s probably because of the salt that’s in MSG and not the glutamate. Unless, of course, you get thirsty when you eat kale, Roquefort cheese or parmesan.
There was an excellent article about American MSG phobia a few months ago in the Guardian UK titled “If MSG is so bad for you, why doesn’t everyone in Asia have a headache. Totally fascinating; here’s a link:

Re: MSG phobia
Fri, August 19, 2005 - 2:48 PMThanks for the info. I'll check it out.
I have some friends that are real alergic to MSG, they tell me they get hives from it. -

It’s funny how these same folks (many good friends of mine) who blame MSG for their headaches/allergies etc… will disparage proponents of, say, Intelligent Design because of *it’s* disregard to the scientific evidence.
I bet these friends of yours are still throwing their money away on Echinacea when they get a cold.
